In 1956 the "Paintings from the Collection of Dr Sukarno,former President of the Republic of Indonesia" was published by The People's Fine Arts Publishing House at Peking(now Beijing) consisting of Volume I and II which were later followed by Volumes III and IV in 1959.Unfortunately my Volume IV was missing in my collection.
The publications consisted of 384 paintings,while His Excellency's collection of paintings is always increasing in accordance with the development of Indonesian culture and arts ever since the proclamation of Independence.
His Excellency President Sukarno has said:
"FREEDOM IS LIKE A GOLDEN BRIDGE FROM WHICH A NATION CAN DEVELOP THE POWER TO CREATE NOT ONLY IN THE MATERIAL SENSE BUT ALSO IN THE SPIRITUAL AND CULTURAL SECTION."
Most of the art work were reproduced into 5 volumes publications of which Volume V composed of 167 reproduction of Sculptures and porcelains which were quite exclusive.

The presidential artist is Lee Man-Fong and according to him these paintings have their souls,some reflecting the beauty of nature,some depicts the live of the common people and others describing the Indonesian people fight for Independence.
Looking at these paintings enables one to feel the peace of mind,inspiration to work for the prosperity of the nation and the people in particular,and fills us with the inspiration of doing something for the happiness of mankind.
President Sukarno is not only a lover of art but an artist himself.
His Excellency inspirations has constructed a bridge of friendship between the Indonesian people and the peoples of the different countries of the world.

In the present atmosphere of independence-FREE INDONESIA-art is sure to bloom.
Such is not the case in an atmosphere of colonialism!
The paintings and sculptures in my collection are not always of the same high quality.
However,those paintings and sculptures themselves proof of "the fruits of Independence"
Surely independent nations are happy nations!
